Hauraki Twin Rivers Race

The Twin Rivers waterski race is an annual staple on the Hauraki Plains event calendar. Boats and water-skiers from all parts of New Zealand and Australia head along to compete in the race.

Teams comprising two skiers, an observer and boat driver, will line up in Ngatea, race down the Piako River, out into the Firth of Thames and turn back up the Waihou River travelling under the Kopu bridge and cross the finish line at the Puke Bridge in Paeroa. Boats travel between 140kph and 165 kph along the course.
